Bio
The Reformed Church has an invaluable resource in mission personnel who have spent their lives doing ministry in parts of the world we are only able to access through the often distorted perspective of nightly news sound bytes. Given the fact that the world "out there" is now moving into our neighborhoods and we into theirs through increased global mobility it is imperative that we take the time to tap into this resource so we can become not only better informed, but better able to live according to the high calling of Christ. Christ says that we must "love our neighbors as ourselves", but we can only do that if we take the time to try and understand our neighbors, to attempt to see the world through their eyes. It's hard to love someone you only know as a two dimensional stereotype. People who have lived among people of other faiths and ethnicities and learned to call them "friends" can help us move beyond the stereotypes.

Lew Scudder is one of these people. Starting this month he is going to be joining the list of those who have made "blogging" a part of our 21st century vocabulary.

At least once/month Lew will share his thoughts and insights into Middle Eastern matters particularly as they relate to Christian-Muslim relations in a "blog-like" piece he's calling "MORNING LAND MEDITATIONS" (from the German name for the Middle East=Morning Land). The hope is that these regular updates will help you gain a better perspective on a part of the world which is on everyone's minds these days, and should be, as what is happening in the Middle East does, in fact, touch all of our lives. At the very least it will help you understand better how to pray for the people who are our global - and increasingly local - neighbors.

Commentary on these "Morning Land Meditations" is welcome, and will be sent on to the author.
